Hi and welcome to The Ache to Bake.
I’m Victoria, I live in Wymondham, Norfolk with my husband Peter, our son and our very naughty Beagle, Hugo.
I created this blog to share tried and tested recipes for simple cakes and desserts, which I have baked, eaten and loved! They are recipes I have accumulated from heavily thumbed recipe books, stumbled across online or have been passed on to me by friends and family.
I’m here to save you the time of looking for new recipes. I also offer tweaks and feedback on the recipes I share, to help you get the most out of them.
I decided to set this blog up for a few reasons, the main one was due to my experience of living with reoccurring, persistent/chronic pain, the ‘ache’ in The Ache to Bake, which I will talk about at times in my blogs.
After the birth of my first child brought on a second episode of chronic pain, my physiotherapist tasked me with doing something I enjoy to help me relax. So I decided to share my love of cake and experience of living with chronic pain, in the hope I could either inspire at least one person to bake or help at least one person who is living with the burden of chronic pain.
All of the recipes you find on this site will be pretty SIMPLE. Living with chronic pain has meant that my capacity and energy to indulge complex, time consuming, fussy recipes has been limited. For me, the simpler the recipe, the better. As long as it tastes good!
You can read my full story here or simply enjoy the photos and recipes.
If you try a recipe I’d love to hear how you get on so please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org or tap me up on my social media.
